This thing called 'Blumenfest'

Every last Sunday in August our town has this thing called 'Blumenfest'. All the clubs, like sport clubs, make artistic wagons with figures out of flowers. The 'Blumenfest' was today and I wanted to show you some pictures. :)

hair like a princess =)

A quick tip for you ladies:
the next time you're at your favourite drugstore check out the kiddie-hair section! I really love that stuff because it smells so nice, so the last time I was there I found this cool spray:

It's a spray to make combing wet hair easier. And I have to say I love it! Not just because of the combing thing ( which is rather nice ) but because it smells absolutely fantastic ( like apricot and flowers ) and doubles as a leave-in conditioner. I have been looking for one of those without silicone, which is pretty much impossible, but this one has it all :) It's also great on dry hair to get rid of morning frizz et cetera! And the best part: it didn't even cost 2 €. This particular spray is only available at DM but I'm sure that other drugstores have similar products!

Give it a try, you're gonna love it! :)

NOTD: pink glitter

Oh my it's been 10 days since our last post, so sorry about that but it's been so crazy here lately, super busy with work and stuff, plus it's been way to hot to wear elaborate make-up looks, but enough of that!
Today I'm back with these nails of the day I painted last night:

I used the Hypoallergen + Quick Dry Base Coat by P2 and then applied OPI's Sparrow Me The Drama as a base color. Using the nail art special topper It's Purplicious by essence I created a bit of a fading effect by applying it on half to two-thirds of the nail once, and then a second coat on just the tip. Finally I used Space Queen by essence as a top coat. I really like using glitter polishes as top coats because they tend to stay on much longer!

Pretty Little Liars Turorial - Intro

We've been a little busy so we haven't been able to do those Pretty Little Liars looks we promised - yet. Sorry about that! Per request, today I tried to recreate Ali's look from the intro, hope you like it :)

Let's get started with the eyeshadow:

Start by creating a triangular shape, using a dark brown shimmery eyeshadow, starting just below the inner end of your eyebrow and reaching across your lid, fading out beneath the outer end. Also, bring in the color beneath your lower lashes, on the outer half of your lid.
[Artdeco #20 pearly african coffee]
Next, use an even darker shade all over your lid. [Manhattan perfect eyes trio - smokey effects #109T]

The next step - and this is important - is blending.
Use a soft brush to blend out the edges of the triangle and also along your crease, so the two shades fade into each other.

To intensify the look, go over your lid again with the same or another shimmery dark brown.
[Too Faced - Full Frontal]

Use a dark brown gel eyeliner to create a not too thin winged line.
[Maybelline New York - Eyestudio lasting drama gel liner #02 brown]

Now, use a black liner and tightline your upper lashes. Really smudge it in there from above and beneath. Also smudge it among your lower lashes a bit.
[Manhattan Gel-Eyeliner #AA1403]
Clean your lower waterline with a q-tip and then apply some white eyeliner. If you want, set it with matte white eyeshadow.
[p2 Intense Khol Eyeliner #020 Cool Alaska]
[Artdeco #512 matt white]

Last but not least, apply a volumizing mascara!
[Astor Big&Beautiful Ultra Volume Mascara #800 Black]

□■□■□■□■□
If you want to go full on out there are of course 3 other elements of the look that are shown in the intro:

To get those crazy curls, use a small curling iron and curl small strands of hair really tight. Don't forget your heat pretection =)

For the lips, use a dark red lipstick and then go over it with a coppery gloss.
[Alverde lipstick #107 red diamond]
[MakeUpFactory long lasting lipgloss #42 rosewood]

On your nails you can basically use any bright pink you own :) Mine's a bit too dark but the effect is the same.
[Chanel #74 Kabuki]

I have to say, I really like the individual parts of this look, the eyeshadow is really pretty and I enjoyed the dark lips, but all together it's a bit much in my opinion :)

I really hope you enjoyed this post, and that the step by step pictures are helpful for those of you who might want to recreate this look.

MAC Russian Red

Hey lovelies! A few days ago I also bought a lipstick from MAC, Russian Red. It's a classic and if you haven't found your perfect red by now I recommend that you try that lipstick! ;)
The formula is matte but the texture is smooth and easy to apply. The colour is lovely, as I said before, the perfect red and the lipstick wears up to 6 hours.

Goodies from The Body Shop

Earlier this week I picked up a few things from The Body Shop and I wanted to tell you lovelies about it :)

I used to use the Passion Fruit Facial Cleansing Gel and I was soo disappointed when I found out they discontinued that, or at least they didn't have it any more at this store. Because I did need some cleanser I ended up getting the TEA TREE SKIN CLEARING FACIAL WASH instead and I have to say I really like it! It does smell like tea tree oil rather intensely but I don't mind that. Like all Body Shop was gels you need very little product, a drop the size of a hazlenut is usually enough for the entire face. I've only used it for 3 days so far, but my skin feels pretty good and I do expect it to keep clearing up even more :)

Besides the facial wash I also picked up a few other things:
▪▫  A new Moringa Body Butter. My old one's nearly empty and I have to say this is definitely the butter I use most. I love how it smells like summer and it's not too intense, so you can pretty much always use it :)
▪▫  A new Refining Bath Lily. This time I picked a white one, I get a different color each time. Do you use these? I totally love them, it's so much more foamy and you need far less shower gel!
▪▫  The 100% Natural Lip Roll-On. I actually got this as a free gift. These are new and I'm still a bit skeptical about the concept. It's some kind of moisturizing oil that comes in 5 different scents: Rose│Orange│Berry│Coconut│Mint. I picked mint because the other ones are really fruity. The applicator has a little metal ball so it has a nice cooling effect when you apply it on your lips.
▪▫  Samples! Uhh how I love samples :D This time I got a little bottle of tea tree oil, matching the facial wash. Also they gave me honey shampoo and honey hair butter. I've never actually used hair butter but I expect it to be an intense conditioner.

▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪ ▫ ▪
I really like products from The Body Shop because they only use natural ingredients and their stuff is just awesome :)

#7 Soap Bubbles

After coloring the road last week, today we had another childhood flashback:
soap bubbles! :D
It's really hard to take pictures of them, though! It was rather windy so they blew away so fast.. however they're really pretty and it was fun trying to catch them on camera. Our favourites are the ones that are pink in the middle and then fade into yellow, what about you?

My Obsession Today: Flormar Lipstick in L05

My new love: Flormar Lipstick in L05. Well, I don't like it that the lipstick doesn't have a name, but it may be a really good dupe for MAC Candy Yum Yum. ;)

#33 Explore A Botanical Garden

Another thing on our Summer Bucket List was to go see a botanical garden. We ended up spending a few hours in Erlangen today, visiting the garden and buying some stuff^^ The garden was really, really pretty. Most of the flowers are in bloom, even the lotus. Pretty much every person there was just looking at everything through a camera :D

#2 Go To The Zoo

Number 2 on our Summer Bucket List was 'Go To The Zoo'. The weather was nice and we finally had the chance to visit the newly built lagoon for the manatees, dolphins and sea lions. It's huge and looks really great! Another highlight of our day were the polar bear twins Aleut and Gregor. But see for yourself:

MAC Cine-Matics and Colourizations

Hey lovelies!
I don't know if you already know, but right now MAC is launching a new collection - Cine-Matics/Colourizations. The collection isn't huge, but it has some pretty neat things! :D There are two Cine-Matics Make Up Lessons, a Smokey Brown and a Smokey Black Make Up Lesson, two brush bags, four lip bags including a lipstick, a matching lip liner and lip gloss and eight two-eyeshadow-palettes called Double Feature. You can either buy it at maccosmetics.de (make up lessons, lip bags, brush bags) or douglas.de (everything including the Double Feature eyeshadow-palettes). I really like the idea of the lip bags, but as I'm not using lip liner or lipgloss that much, I skipped that. Nevertheless, I had to order one of the Double Feature eyeshadow-palettes - Double Feature 5. Well, I don't like it much that the eyeshadows don't have specific names, but the colours are great:

Double Feature 5 is a pale pink-peach with a frost finish and a red-toned brown with a teal duochrome and a frost finish. The reddish brown is like an improved MAC Club.
Have you purchased anything from this collection?

Brush Cleaning

Ladies it's really important to keep your brushes clean!
Especially face brushes can contain all sorts of bacteria you don't want to expose your skin to! Even if you have enough brushes to use a different one for each product you use a lot, you should remind yourself to clean them on a regular basis. Basically there's two methods for that:

Method 1: using tissue-paper
This is what you would do with a professional brush cleaner, however you can also just use make-up remover, toner or just plain water. All you do is wet either the brush or the tissue and then wipe the brush back and forth until there's no more color coming out of it. This is a quick and easy method, however it's not quite as thorough as method 2.

Method 2: Shampoo
If you want to really deep clean your brushes you can take a mild shampoo (try something without silicones - I use baby shampoo) or your face cleansing gel. Hold the brush under water to make it wet (always keep it upside down to make sure no water runs into the handle - that could dissolve the glue) and then dip it into the shampoo. Swirl the brush around and foam it up, you'll see how super quick this method cleans your brushes! You may have to repeat this with certain brushes (foundation, concealer, ..) but usually once is enough. Rinse out all of the foam (again- hold the brush upside down) , use your fingers (or a towel) to squeeze out the water and bring the brush back into form, then lay it down on a tissue or towel to let it dry (over night).

I hope this was helpful to some of you!!

Sparrow Me The Drama

As Kate already mentioned in this post here, we both picked up OPI polishes a few days ago, so here's mine:
I chose Sparrow Me The Drama, a lovely pastel pink with a hint of lavender from the Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Collection. I know it's been out for a while but I hadn't been that interested in it until I saw it in the store this week :)

I really like how this shade of pink is very classy and low-key, so you can easily wear it to work, but it's still a fresh summery color! Kind of like pink marshmallows :D

O.P.I. Designer Series 'Classic'

I already thought about purchasing a nailpolish from the O.P.I. Designer Series for quite some time now and at first I wanted to order one from Amazon, but a few days ago, Lizzy and I discovered a little store in Nuremberg which carries O.P.I., Korres and other interesting brands. We immediately browsed through the huge O.P.I. collection and both Lizzy and me bought a nailpolish. I think Lizzy will show you guys her colour soon, but until then, here is the Designer Series 'Classic':

I also bought another thing, an eyeshadow from Korres in 84S Sky Blue. The formula is nice, the eyeshadow is really soft and doesn't crumble, but the colour payoff unfortunately isn't the best. Anyway, I still love the colour! But see for yourself:

Do you like Korres products? Have you purchased anything from the Greek brand yet?

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Semi Precious Pearl

Hey lovelies!
At first I refused to buy or swatch anything from MAC's Semi Precious Collection because normally I don't like baked blushes or eyeshadows. But I have seen so many positive reviews about the Mineralize Skinfinish Pearl that I had to buy it today. I was in the city anyway and I didn't think they would have anything left of the Semi Precious Collection, but they still had ALL Mineralize Skinfinishes. :) Well, I swatched Pearl and Rose Quartz as they were those I liked most from all the blogposts I have read and I have to say Pearl is sooo beautiful! Really, at first I thought it isn't anything special but now I'm totally in love with it. :D I know, the collection is already out some time now, but I hope this blogpost is still somewhat informative for you:

See how pretty Pearl looks? Have you bought a MSF or anything else from the collection?

#19 Make Popsicles

Ok I have to admit the weather hasn't really been all that summery lately, more like April. But if you do get the occational hot day it's nice to cool down with some yummy ice-cream or popsicles. We decided to make our own. We mainly layered different smoothies and juices (it's also fun to add some small bits of fruit) but we also created a few using vanilla and chocolate pudding :D This is really easy and fun - and tasty!!

Mascara Test Series 2: Maybelline Falsche Wimpern Volum' Express Mascara

The next mascara I will be showing you is the Maybelline Falsche Wimpern Volum' Express Mascara Black Drama in carbon black. It costs about 10.00 € at DM.

The brush is relatively thick and it is curved. The texture of the mascara is on the wetter side, but still dry enough to be applied easily (for me ;)). You can't see it on the picture above, but the formula has tiny fibres in it to help extending the lashes and providing volume.

1: bare lashes 2: 1 coat 3: 2 coats

1: bare lashes 2: 1 coat 3: 2 coats

1: bare lashes 2: 1 coat 3: 2 coats
I have to say, this mascara is one of my favourite mascaras, the colour is an extremely deep black, the applicator is perfectly shaped and the formula is providing length and volume! I'm sorry about the pictures above, the macara tube is totally new and thus the application isn't perfect, because at the beginning there is a bit too much product on the applicator. But when used a few times, the mascara shows its real talent! It almost looks like you have false lashes on and you can even apply it 4 to 5 times without getting clumpy lashes.

xo, Kate

Mascara Test Series 1: Astor Big & Beautiful False Lash Look Volume Mascara

The first mascara I will be reviewing is the Astor Big & Beautiful False Lash Look Volume Mascara in 910 hypnotic black. It costs 4.95 € at DM.

Well the brush looks promising and the texture doesn't look too wet for me. But after applying I wasn't so enthusiastic anymore.

1: bare lashes 2: 1 coat 3: 2 coats

1: bare lashes 2: 1 coat 3: 2 coats

1: bare lashes 2: 1 coat 3: 2 coats
The mascara definitely makes longer lashes, but lacks of providing volume and my lashes are definitely clotting together which I don't actually like in a mascara. :D
At least the colour is a deep black and the mascara is easy to remove. However, not the best mascara I have.

xo, Kate

Mascara Test Series

Hey lovelies!
I thought I'm gonna make a little mascara testing series for you because I think it would be very practical as you can see how the different applicators and textures work for your lashes. Of course you have to consider that all lashes and thus, their requirements are different, so a mascara can work for my lashes but it can be totally different with yours. Therefore these are just suggestions and ideas. :)
I will be testing:

Even if lashes are very different, I hope these posts will help you a bit when choosing your next mascara, as you can still compare the applicators, the texture and the price.
