me, myself & eye

Hey lovelies!

Look what I got in the mail the other day:
The Sleek PPQ Me, Myself & Eye divine mineral based eyeshadow palette.
Phew, quite a title :D But so lovely!
The palette is super versatile as it contains both neutral and very vibrant colors!

The colors all have really fun names :)

First row:
Barry White, Black Box, Salt 'n' Peppermint, Simply Red, Pink Beret, Primal Green
Second Row:
Fade to Grey, Blue Monday, Supernova, Chris de Burgundy, Lilac Allen, Golden Silvers

As you can see most colors are very pigmented, the only exceptions are Pink Beret & Supernova and to some degree Chris de Burgundy. They're still very pretty, and work great together for a more understated daytime look. All other colors are very pigmented, especially the metallic ones! They can be used for full on crazy looks as well as subtle hints of color if you're verrry careful and only use a little bit of eyeshadow.

Here's just two looks I've used this palette for recently.
For the first one I applied Pink Beret on the inner half of my lid and along the lashline and then blended Salt 'n' Peppermint into the crease, the outer half of the lid and among the lower lashes.
For the second look I applied Golden Silvers in the inner corner, Primal Green over most of the lid and Blue Monday as a winged liner and beneath my lower lashes.

What do you think of this palette?
It's my first Sleek palette and I really like it. The price (~10€) is really fair and the quality of the eyeshadows seems great so far!

crazy good times

Hey lovelies!

Just a little eye candy today, brought to you by the essence crazy good times LE.
I actually bought 4 pairs of the lashes *oh my*

I have to say, I don't wear falsies that often, especially crazy stuff like these, but I just couldn't resist! Aren't these awesome? And yet, affordable. 2.75€ a pair is pretty fair compared to most other brands.

I bought 01 glitterastic , 02 paradelade , 04 candyction and 05 colourbration.
Love the crazy mashed up names :D
Enough talk, have a look:

What do you think?
Sure, they are super crazy but that's kind of the point, isn't it? :D
Are you planning on getting anything from this collection?

blogger tag

Hey Lovelies!
We love reading blogger tags, they’re so much fun, and now Kelly has tagged us to do this one, yay!
We both wanted to do this tag so we split some of it up and color coded the answers :) Lizzy // Kate

1. You must post the rules.
2. Post eleven fun facts about yourself.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
4. Tag eleven people and link to them in your post.
5. Let them know you've tagged them!

11 facts about Kate&Lizzy:
1. I hate to go shopping. Seriously I hate the people who are watching me, the tiny fitting rooms, the heat...ugh! But before you think I don't have anything to wear, I equally love online shopping! It's the best idea ever. :D
2. I'm a major TV show fan and have a lot of them on dvd! I just hate when I love a movie and it only lasts 2 hours. So I watch series instead; this way you get to spend soo much more time with your favourite characters ;)
3. I have a slight obsession with cheese, I could eat cheese always and at any time of the day.
4. I have a thing about numbers.. for some reason I always set my alarm clock to symmetrical times like 6:46 and the volume on my TV has to be a multiple of 5 :D
5. I love Asia - Japan, China, the culture, the guys.. ;)
6. I study to be a secondary teacher for my two favourite subjects: English and Geography.
7. My room is painted purple..
8. I'm currently saving up for my third tattoo, but I have an expensive trip coming up so I'll have to wait until summer to have it done..
9. I don't like cocktails with milk, cream or anything sweet. I'm not like the other girls I think. I would rather drink a beer than drink a cocktail with cream.
10. My room tends to be rather untidy but when I clean, I do it excessively, disinfecting and everything :)
11. We love playing Singstar together, we are super geeky Assassins Creed fans & we love driving around aimlessly at night just talking and listening to music!

Our answers to Kelly’s questions:
1. What is your favourite perfume?
Hard to decide.. I love Sun Delight in the Summer and right now I'm alternating between Boss Orange and Miss Dior Chèrie, depending on my mood :)
I'm totally in love with oriental types of perfume like JPG Classique EdP with rose and vanilla or Narcisco Rodriguez For Her EdT with honey and musk. And it has to be a perfume which wears a long time! :)

2. If you could have any job in the world, what would you choose?
I think Cameron Diaz' character in The Holiday has pretty much the coolest job on earth (cutting movie trailers) but I love teaching and am very happy about becoming a secondary school teacher :)
Well I think any job including foreign countries and foreign languages would be something for me, so I'd like to be a hotel manager in a foreign country or do something with tourism.

3. Small purses or large totes?
Definitely large totes! I always carry so much stuff with me and it drives me crazy when I don't have something I need.
Mostly I like large totes better but if I'm going out in the evening I only carry a small clutch because it's just more practical for me.

4. What language did you take in school?
English, French and then Italian, that adds up to 4 languages.. (both my French and Italian are pretty bad though) :D
Well as I'm studying to be a foreign language correspondent, I'm fluent in English and I speak also French and Spanish.

5. What's your favourite color?
I love both purple and turquoise! But as far as clothes go, I mostly stick to grey, black and other neutrals.
I love purple and silver, though I don't know if silver is even considered a colour. :D

6. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you be?
I love Seattle, never been there but love it all the same! Either that or Hawaii =) Definitely a place where they speak English :)
Oh that's a hard question because I love travelling and foreign countries in general, but if I'd have to choose it would either be London or an amazing sunny place somewhere in the US like California or Hawaii! New Zealand wouldn't be that bad either. :D

7. Righty or lefty?
Righty! Righty ;)

8. Have you ever dyed your hair?
All the time! I love changing things up but since I like my hair to stay long, I have to take it out on the color :D
Yeah ;D I tried chocolate brown and also some fun colours like red, pink or purple (not the whole head though) but I'm always coming back to my signature colour - light blonde. :)

9. Do you have a pet peeve?
Lots.. ever had a piece of aluminum foil touch your teeth? Just thinking of that makes me shudder and ..ew!
I really really don't like people who are coming to sit with me in one compartment in the train even everwhere else is free, I just don't understand it and it's kinda creepy! And I get goosebumps when I think of a wooden icecream stick rubbing between my teeth, ah I hate it..

10. Do you wear glasses or contacts?
No, sadly not. I'd LOVE to have glasses, but unfortunately my eyes are too damn good.. :D
I have glasses but I don't wear them all the time, because only one of my eyes is 'bad'. :D But if my eyes get worse, I really need contacts. ;)

11. Flip Flops: a staple in your wardrobe, or the worst shoes ever?
Hmm something inbetween, I wear them sometimes but I much prefer ballet flats! I don't like my toes so I avoid showing them off :D Not a big fan of peeptoes either!
Yeah I got some in my wardrobe, but I only wear them if I'm going to the pool or on the beach. It's a no-go for me to wear them in public, it just looks weird, even in summer. :D

Our questions for you:
1. If you could only use 2 beauty products for a week, which would you choose?
2. What was your dream job as a kid?
3. Do you like to wear false eyelashes?
4. What's your favourite icecream flavour?
5. Would you rather go out dancing or spend the night in bed with your favourite book/film?
6. Where was your favourite vacation ever?
7. What was the most awesome nailpolish you ever had?
8. Do you look more like your Mom or your Dad?
9. What's your sick/sad -day movie? The one that never fails to cheer you up.
10. High Heels or Converse sneakers?
11. Which three (living or dead) people would you like to have dinner with?

We're tagging everyone who wants to be tagged :D
Let us know if you did the tag, we'd love to read your answers!

This was fun =)

ombre hair

Hey lovelies!

So sorry we've been quiet forover a week now, but our finals are coming up and we have soo much stuff to do.

Lately I've been really bored with my hair, I liked the color but it was just so monotone. I decided to try something new and go ombre. Now, I've been coloring my own hair for years and I figured I'd manage this as well :)

I used two of the Garnier Highlight Sets (4 and then 1+) which should be available at most drugstores and are pretty cheap.
Here's a step by step tutorial how to create the ombre look on your own hair:

1│ prepare. brush out any knots that might be in your unwashed (!) hair, it also helps to dampen it a bit

2│ highlight. use the little brush thingy to create strands starting at the eye level and bring them down

3│ knead it in. put some of the bleach into your hands and work them into the tips of your hair, up until your chin. make sure to kind of blend it out, so you can avoid having harsh a harsh color difference

4│ let it rest. the mixture dries rather quickly and then you can just put it up. stick to the time in the instructions!

5│ check it. you will notice your hair getting lighter so if you think it's enough, wash it out even if you're still ahead of time.

6│ wash it. wash out all of the product and dry your hair with an old towel

7│first results. even when your hair is still wet, you can already see which parts are light and which might still need some bleach

8│ repeat. if you use two sets of color, here's where you use the second one. highlight your tips even more, add some extra light streaks around your face and repeat steps 2-6 :)

That's it, pretty simple, huh? With the two different colors, washing etc, this took me maybe 90min, definitely not more than that.

I really really love how this turned out, my hair looks so much warmer and especially in the sun it's quite colorful! It's the perfect antidote for this cold and colorless season =)

Gemma Chan in Sherlock

Hey lovelies!

Have you seen Sherlock (the BBC show) yet? I love it! Absolutely aweseome!!
Now, in the second episode of the first season, the lovely Gemma Chan appeared and I simply adored her look. It's very wearable but still smokey :)

Yesterday I tried to recreate her make up and I quite liked the way it turned out!
The lighting's a little off in these photos [it's winter...], it looks better in real life :)

If you want to know how to do this look, there's a step-by-step tutorial after the break:

Essie Love

Hey lovelies!

First of all - I am deeply sorry for the bad quality of the photos, but the lighting here is just so bad that I couldn't take any better photos! :( I want summer again! Better weather, better lighting! ;)
But bear with me, I'll show you some really gorgeous nail polishes. All three of them are Essie nailpolishes and like Lizzy I haven't tried them before..but since I have I really love them, they are great!

The three colours I bought are called Bobbing For Baubles, Sole Mate and Lilacism.

I want to start with Bobbing For Baubles, the nail laquer Lizzy has already mentioned in her post about Essie. As she already said it's, accordding to Essie, a 'deepest darkest sapphire' and I have to agree. In some lighting the colour looks almost black but if you see it in the sunlight it's a gorgeous deep dark blue-grey! The consistency was really good and this sweetheart is also a one coater! ;)

The next polish I want to show you is Lilacism. First I wanted another one of the Cocktail Bling Edition but I thought Lilacism is nicer than Bangle Jangle because it has more violet tones in it! Essie says it's 'elegant and enchanting, this satiny smooth lilac whispers springtime' and again I think it's a really good description of the polish. The lavender lilac is perfect for spring! The consistency here was almost even better than with Bobbing For Baubles and I used two coats.

And the last nail polish is called Sole Mate. I was looking for a deep pinkish plum and first of all I wanted to buy another colour but unfortunately it was sold out so I bought Sole Mate instead and it's just oh so gorgeous! A perfect fall colour. Essie calls it a 'creamy and rich deep plum'. The colour is something between a dark bordeaux red and a pinkish plum and it's a beautiful berry colour! The consistency here was a bit more liquid than with the other ones but it was no problem. I used two coats. Oh and before I forget to tell you - they dry so quickly, it's amazing!

Do you like the colours? How much Essie polishes do you have? Do you like them? Tell me!
Have a nice evening. ;)

essie goodies

Hey lovelies!

Me again :) A few days ago I bought my first 2 essie nailpolishes
(can't believe I haven't tried them before *shame on me*)
and they're awesome! Seriously, love them!

I picked them up at Douglas and they had a special where you got a free smoothie handcream when buying 2 or more polishes, super cool =)
The colors I bought are Cocktail Bling and Bobbing For Baubles (Kate will review that one - we both bought it) and I picked the smoothie in cranberry & tangerine. Both of the polishes are from the latest collection!

Cocktail Bling is a pretty grey with a slight purple-y undertone. Kind of reminds me of scene (mac eyeshadow) only lighter! The polish is somehow chalky and thick, which makes it dry quickly and opaque. I was absolutely fascinated with the consistency of this laquer!
Essie describes the color as 'a precious pale grey jewel' and I think that's very fitting!

The essie smoothies are not just a hand cream but also a body lotion! It's very soft and creamy. Wetter than most hand creams, really more like a body lotion. I love that it comes in a little bottle with a pump, instead of a tube or something. It's just oh so practical! I have it on my desk and use it all the time! And cranberry & tangerine smells so good! At this rate, I don't think it'll last very long :) This is perfect in the cold season when your hands need all the moisture they can get! It smells very nice and definitely worth a try. I'm not quite sure it's available everywhere, though. I think it might be exclusive to Douglas.

Watch out for Kate's review of Bobbing For Baubles 'a deepest darkest saphire'!

crystalliced haul&review

Hey lovelies!

I picked up a few things from the crystalliced LE this week, and I thought I'd share them with you!
I bought 3 things: The hightlighter, a lipgloss and one of the glitter pigments.

liquid highlighter:

I'm usually a bit careful about silver-toned makeup, simply because I feel like warm colors look better on me, but I was really curious about this highlighter. I've never actually tried a liquid one before. I'm quite content with my powder ones and even though the Benefit ones look lovely, they're just a bit too pricey if you're not quite sure. Anyways, this highlighter has a rather sticky, creamy consistensy. One little pump, like in the photo, dabbed onto your cheekbones gives you a nice glowy result. Now, it looks very shiny here, but that's only if the light hits it directly and usually you wouldn't apply this much :) I applied it over my foundation, but before I added powder. This sets the product and blends it into your overall look.
I quite like this hightlighter, I think it's really nice for the winter. I can't say how it would hold up in comparison to the Benefit ones for example, but it costs only about one tenth, which I think is a good argument to try this one first :)

The color I chose is 03 ice crystals on my window. It's the most natural one and unless you put on a lot it doesn't look like much. I like that. It's a perfect everyday kind of color, a soft beige base with golden and pink shimmer. It smells (and tastes) nice :) The lipgloss is thick, sticky. It stays on longer than I expected! The packaging is really basic, with a normal spongy applicator.

glitter froster:

These are pretty cool. I purchased 01 frosted champaign, a lovely white golden color. The froster is meant for not only the face, but that's where I've been applying it so far. I'm not a big fan of body glitter :) It's a loose pigment so you'll want to make sure it has something to stick to. On your eyes, you'll definitely need an eyeshadow base. If you want it on your cheeks, make sure to apply it shortly after your foundation. On your body you might consider using a cream before the glitter. It will stick to the moisture. I've been using it on my lids and it holds up well, without too much fallout, when applied on a good base. The color's really nice! I've paired it with both light colors, like in the photo, and dark grey/black on New Years. Both look great!

I wore all three products together the other day, so you can see 'the big picture'.
I think the products are quite nice, nothing over the top, just a bit of frosty sheen for the cold winter months.

Maybelline Fit Me

Hey lovelies!

Have you seen the new foundation/powder etc line by Maybelline? It's called Fit Me and is designed to match your skin perfectly!
I saw this in the store and picked up a powder to try it after my old one broke.

They have this super cool feature on their website which helps you find your perfect match: try it here!
I just tried it and I actually bought the shade that's supposed to be best for me *phew*. It also suggests the matching foundation, concealer and blush, so if I want to pick those up I'll know what to get right away.

What do you think of this concept?
I like that drugstore brands put more thought into their selection of foundation these days, and that they match their products. I think I might try the foundation after I've used up my current one :)
